What is the Space Race?

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has partnered with the Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI) to create space technology spin-offs leveraging their new license -“Startup NASA” - a new free license for commercial use of NASA’s patented technologies.

 

When will it Start?

The SPACE RACE has opened for entries as of January 19th, 2016.  More information on our full schedule can be seen below.

 

How do I Join?

The SPACE RACE is now accepting entries! Please visit Phase 0 of the Overview Section for more information on how to join the SPACE RACE.

  • Read all the information available on our website: Be sure to look through the overview and rules of the Challenge, as well as testimonials from prior Challenges we've hosted
  • Choose an Invention: You can see a list of available inventions on our Inventions Page.  The SPACE RACE inventions span a number of industries and categories including:
  • Health, Medicine and Biotechnology
  • Manufacturing
  • Power Generation and Storage
  • Communications
  • Sensors
  • Aeronautics
  • Propulsion
  • Mechanical and Fluid Systems
  • Robotics, Automation and Control
  • Electrical and Electronics
  • Optics
  • Instrumentation

  • Form a Team: Interested in participating? Read our guidance and rules for forming the perfect team for this Challenge.  Contact your colleagues and peers from your University and beyond to join your team!  
    • You can begin and apply as a partial team, and go on to build your team throughout the challenge!
    • PLEASE NOTE Team Mandatory Requirements: You must have the following skill sets on the team: business, legal, invention specific experience (advanced manufacturing), and also a serial entrepreneur must be on every team. You may want to investigate the following resources: CoFoundersLab, LinkedIn, your alumni network, your University and service providers such as law firms
